All data stays on your server. We have zero access to your financial information.

We don't collect, store, or have access to any of your personal or financial data.

The Short Version

We don't collect your data because we can't. Moneypile is a self-hosted application that runs entirely on your own infrastructure. Your financial data never leaves your server, and we have no ability to access, view, or collect any information about you or your finances.

What is Self-Hosted?

When you use Moneypile, you run the entire application on your own server or computer. This means:

  • • All your financial data is stored in a SQLite database on your server
  • • We have no servers that your data passes through
  • • We cannot see, access, or retrieve your information
  • • You have complete control over your data retention and backups

What We Don't Collect

❌ No Personal Information

We don't know who you are, your email address, or any identifying information.

❌ No Financial Data

Your transactions, budgets, accounts, and all financial information stay on your server.

❌ No Usage Analytics

We don't track how you use the app, which features you access, or when you log in.

❌ No Error Reporting

Even errors and crashes stay local. We don't receive any automatic error reports.

Third-Party Services

SimpleFIN Bank Sync (Optional)

If you choose to use SimpleFIN for bank synchronization:

  • • SimpleFIN connects directly to your banks
  • • This connection is between you and SimpleFIN
  • • We are not involved in this data exchange
  • • Review SimpleFIN's privacy policy for their practices

Actual Budget™ Foundation

Moneypile is built on top of Actual Budget™. When running self-hosted, Actual also operates entirely on your infrastructure with the same privacy guarantees.

Your Rights

Since all data is on your server, you have complete control:

  • ✓ Delete anything: Remove any data at any time
  • ✓ Export everything: Your data is in standard SQLite format
  • ✓ Stop anytime: Just turn off your server
  • ✓ Move anywhere: Transfer to any other server

Security Considerations

Your Responsibility: As a self-hosted application, security depends on your server configuration, network setup, and maintenance practices. We recommend:

  • • Using HTTPS/TLS encryption
  • • Keeping your server software updated
  • • Implementing proper access controls
  • • Regular backups of your data

Updates to This Policy

While our commitment to not collecting data will never change, we may update this policy to clarify our practices or reflect new features. Any updates will be posted here with a new "Last updated" date.
